A kit is your pre-set equipment standard. Instead of adding a laptop, monitor, dock, and headset one item at a time for every new hire, you can now build a pre-defined kit once and add it to the cart from the catalog like any other product. Everything ships to the recipient on one order.
What's changing
- Self-serve setup — build a kit from your catalog in minutes, no setup request needed
- Faster fulfillment — item in the kit are determined automatically once the order is placed (or when the employees makes their selections in the case of choice kits) instead of waiting on a manual build step
- Standard recipient experience — kit recipients can enter their address and their choices in the same form as any other Send Equipment order
If you already use kits, your existing kits keep working exactly as they do today — see Already using kits? below.
What kits do today
Today, kits can be configured with items included by default and by recipient choice. In the future you will be able to also specify if the devices should be procured new, or deployed from inventory!
Build a kit
- Navigate to kits from the avatar menu
-
Give the kit a name, select the country the kit will serve, and select the options that you want to offer your employees. Choose "Always included" if customers don't need to make any choices or "Choose one" (ie Mac or PC) or "Choose multiple" (ie Monitor, 2 Monitors, or none) when the employee has a choice to make.
- Add products from your catalog with a quantity for each. You can add up to 20 products to a kit. If you want to offer multiples of a product (ie 2 monitors), use the quantity option to include up to 10 of any one product.
-
Add deployment rules to check in your inventory first, before falling back to purchasing new.
- Add optional Labels and Help Text to organize sections and provide instructions to recipients. Sections can be easily reordered using drag and drop.
- Kits are shared across your organization and can be created, edited, and ordered by any admin in your organization.
Order a kit
- Kits appear in the Send Equipment catalog alongside individual products, under the Kits category.
- When added, the kit appears in your cart as a single line.
- The price shown for the kit in the cart is based on the prices of its items; there is no separate kit price. If the kit includes choice, you'll see the price range for the items in your cart and checkout.
- You can send a kit to multiple recipients at once by selecting them in the order flow. Each recipient will receive the full set of items defined in the kit.
- You can add kits and individual products in the same order.
- Order a kit by its SKU through the allwhere API, the same way you would order any other product by SKU.
What happens after checkout
- Once you check out, the kit expands into individual items on the order.
- The order follows the standard Send Equipment status flow and appears in your Order Dashboard like any other order.
- The recipient receives the standard address request and their confirmation email will list the individual items that they can expect to receive.
- Once the recipient submits their response, the selected items will be added to the order and moved to fulfillment.
- If the item had a "deploy first" rule, we'll look for a match in your inventory using the product SKU (for any items procured through the Buy and Hold or Send Equipment flows) or the product manufacturer part number (MPN) and the specified condition. If no matching assets are found, the kit processor will fallback to procure the item.
Edit and remove kits
- You can update a kit's name, description, items, or quantities at any time.
- Edits to kits will only apply to future orders and will not change orders that have already been placed.
- Delete a kit at any time. Once deleted, the kit will no longer be shown in the catalog and will not be available for new orders. Orders already placed are unaffected and keep their kit reference.
Already using kits?
Kits have always been available and this update means they can now be created and managed from the allwhere portal.

FAQ
Who can build kits?
Primary and secondary administrators.
Do I need to rebuild the kits I already have?
No. Existing kits keep working, and there's no migration to run.
Does a kit get its own price or discount?
No. Each item is priced at its catalog price and the kit total is the sum.
What if I edit a kit after placing orders with it?
Edits will apply to any orders pending recipient selection. If the order has already processed, they'll continue unaffected by the updates.
I don't see kit building in my account.
Kits are rolling out organization by organization. Contact your allwhere contact to get access enabled.
I don't see a kit that I built in my catalog.
A kit only appears in the catalog when the recipient's country matches the kit's country or region. Check if the selected country for the kit matches the selected country in the Send Equipment order flow.
What happens if an item in my kit is discontinued?
If a product in a kit stops being available, the kit editor marks that item Delisted; placing an order with the kit then fails with an error naming the unavailable items, so swap them out to keep ordering.
What happens when I delete a kit?
Deleting a kit takes it out of the catalog for new orders; orders already placed keep their items and their kit reference
Why was something procured new instead of deployed from inventory?
When searching for inventory, we look for a match using the product SKU and the product manufacturer part number (MPN). For equipment purchased through allwhere Buy and Hold or Send Equipment flows, the SKU is automatically captured. For equipment added through other sources, the matching MPN must be present on the asset record for a successful match. If no match is found, the kit processing will fall back to procure new.
