The allwhere Integration Lab helps you customize devices before they're shipped to your employees. Services include MDM enrollment, custom imaging, software configuration, asset tagging, and more.
Available Lab Services
Prepare Windows devices for enrollment in your organization's existing MDM environment before they reach employees. The lab initiates your configured enrollment workflow, such as Windows Autopilot through Intune, and confirms the device connects to your organization's tenant. When employees receive their devices, they can complete setup using your established MDM policies.
Your MDM enrollment profile must be fully configured and tested before the lab begins. This service does not include manual software installation, BIOS changes, post-image configuration, or Apple Automated Device Enrollment (ADE).
Install your organization's pre-configured operating system image on devices before deployment. Your image can include a specific OS version, pre-installed applications, system settings, and other configurations, allowing devices to arrive with your standard environment already in place.
You'll need to provide a tested and validated image, along with any necessary scripts, deployment tools, and installation instructions.
Combine multiple device setup tasks into a single, repeatable configuration. This can include operating system updates, software installation or removal, system settings, BIOS/firmware adjustments, and MDM enrollment.
The lab follows your documented instructions to prepare devices according to your organization's requirements. You'll need to provide step-by-step instructions and validation criteria for each task.
Update devices to your organization's required operating system version or security baseline before deployment. This can include installing security patches, applying feature updates, or upgrading the operating system to a specified version.
You'll need to specify the OS version or patch baseline you want applied. The lab follows your approved requirements rather than determining your organization's update policy.
Apply your organization's physical asset labels to devices before deployment. The lab can apply barcodes, QR codes, or alphanumeric identification labels according to your placement instructions.
You'll need to provide your asset labels and placement instructions, and your Account Manager can help coordinate delivery to the depot. Once tagging is complete, you'll receive a mapping of each asset tag to its corresponding device serial number to support your internal asset tracking.
Collect Windows Autopilot hardware hashes to support device registration and zero-touch enrollment in your organization's MDM environment. The lab extracts the hardware hashes from your devices and provides them in a CSV file.
You'll be responsible for uploading the CSV to your MDM platform before deployment, as the lab does not perform this step.
Add your organization's printed materials to device packaging before shipment. This can include welcome letters, setup instructions, IT support information, or other materials that help employees get started with their devices.
You'll need to provide print-ready files or physical materials, along with any placement instructions. The lab uses standard placement if no instructions are provided. If you're sending printed inserts, your Account Manager can coordinate delivery to the depot. The lab does not design or source custom inserts.
How to Request a Lab Service
Contact your allwhere Account Manager to discuss your request. They'll help gather the necessary details, coordinate the lab's review, and guide you through the approval process.
- Devices: The device makes or models requiring configuration.
- Requested services: What you'd like the lab to complete.
- Instructions: Your configuration specifications and step-by-step instructions.
- Validation: How the completed configuration should be verified.
- Supporting files: Any relevant images, scripts, documentation, or materials.
Your Account Manager will let you know if additional information is needed.
What Happens After You Submit a Request?
The lab reviews your requirements, confirms feasibility, and identifies any additional information needed.
Once your requirements are confirmed, you'll work with your Account Manager to select devices for testing. You can use devices already in your allwhere inventory or arrange a retrieval if needed. The lab then completes the requested configuration on the selected devices.
Once the POC is ready, you'll place a deployment order to receive and evaluate the configured device. If adjustments are needed, the lab will review the updated requirements before proceeding.
Once you approve the POC, we'll create a dedicated SKU for your configuration so the same service can be requested on future orders.
