Before you get started
Please read our Jamf Pro Documentation to understand how the sync will work. Your Jamf integration may create new employee records in allwhere. We recommend reading the linked documentation to ensure this does not happen.
In order to connect allwhere to the Jamf API you must first perform the following actions in your Jamf console:
How to create Jamf Pro credentials
First you need to create an API Role - this defines a list of permissions an API user has.
- In Jamf Pro, click Settings in the sidebar.
- In the System section, click API Roles and Clients.
- Click + New in the top right
- Enter the display name for the role, we recommend naming this allwhere API
- Next you need to click in the select privileges box and search for and add the following privileges
- Read Computers
- Read Mobile Devices
- Click Save in the bottom right
Now you need to create an API client in Jamf Pro
- Return to Settings → System → API Roles and clients
- Select the API Clients tab
- Click + New in the top right
- Enter the name of allwhere API
- Select the allwhere API as the role for this user
- Enter value >=700 for the Access Token Lifetime
- Click Save
- Click Edit
- Click Enable API Client
- Click Save in the bottom right
Next you you then need to click Generate Client Secret
- In Jamf Pro, navigate to the API client you want to generate an access token from.
- Click Generate Client Secret.
- A confirmation dialog appears.
- Click Create Secret. A pop-up window appears with the client secret.
