Device Erasure and OS Installation Process:
Data Erasure:
- Apple Intel & PCs: Secure wipe via KillDisk
- Apple M1/M2: Secure Wipe via Recovery Mode/Disk Utility
1. Apple Intel & PCs (KillDisk) in domestic US
For all PCs and Apple Intel devices, Killdisk is used for secure data erasure, randomization of data, and installation of Operating Systems. KillDisk is a powerful software that allows you to destroy all data on Hard Disks, Solid State Disks (SSD), USB disks and Memory Cards, excluding any possibility of deleted files and folders data
recovery. Active KillDisk is a disk sanitation and partition eraser utility, supporting U.S. DoD 5220.22-M and more than 20 international data sanitizing standards. Active KillDisk communicates with the system board Basic Input-Output Subsystem (BIOS) functions to access hardware directly.
How does KillDisk work?
Active KillDisk communicates with the system board Basic Input-Output Subsystem (BIOS) functions to access hardware directly.
To erase data it uses the US DoD 5220.22-M method to overwrite all addressable storage, indexing locations on the drive three times: with zeros (0x00), complement (0xFF) and random characters; and then verifies all writing procedures. This complies with the US DoD 5220.22-M security standard.
2. Apple M1/M2 (Recovery Mode)
For Apple M1/M2 Processors, the device will be manually wiped via Disk Utility in Recovery Mode.
3. ChromeOS (Powerwash)
For all ChromeOS devices, our team uses Powerwash to erase existing data and reset the device to its factory settings
OS Installation:
1. Apple Intel & PCs (KillDisk) in domestic US
For devices wiped with KillDisk the OS will not be uninstalled.
2. Apple M1/M2 (Recovery Mode)
For devices wiped via recovery mode the last known OS will be re-installed on all devices after completion of data erasure.
